Brief History
Not much is known about Peter Hutchens origins only that he was born in Toronto in 1992 to Patricia and Hugh Hutchens. His parent’s marriage was rocky at the best of times and when they divorced in 1997, Peter spent his time back and forth between his aunt’s house in Winnipeg. This is where he met a younger Ember Reyer, who with the use of the enchanted ring she had gotten from him in their past life in the 1800’s had taken on the guise of a child (even though in reality she was no less than 16 years old). Peter has little or no recollection of his relationship with her in the Paris Opera all those years ago but it is clear that he remembers something of her when they meet up again in Paris almost seven years later, and it also clear that their relationship was nothing to be desired.
What Ember didn’t know about Peter was that in fact he was an alien being from another planet called Gallifrey, the youngest Time Lord of a family of forty cousins who perished in a great war that destroyed his entire home planet. In desperation, his mother Innocet sent the young Time Lord to Earth by aid of a set of Time Rings to Planet Earth in the Milky Way Galaxy. He arrived in Paris in 1867, mortally wounded. This caused him to regenerate into the image he holds to this day. He was aided by a very young Ember Réyer who he soon became close friends with. They formed a close bond, that soon flourished into childhood love for Ember but when Peter inexplicably disappeared leaving Ember only a note, one of his time rings and a bottle of perfume. In fact, the reason for his disappearance was only explained many years later. Peter had in fact received contact from his mother telling him that their planet was doomed and if he wished to survive he must change his identity and lead a normal human life. Knowing he had no other choice, he wrote to Ember and then used a device called a Chameleon Arc to rewrite his biological data and give himself a new life on Earth in the 1980s, as has been described above.
Peter and Ember would finally be reunited in 2014 when she would discover him applying for a job for the newly erected Opera. She would soon learn in her outrage that he remembered nothing of their time together in the 1860s and had to his own knowledge never met her at all. Eventually they learn to overcome this odd occurrence and get married but this marriage is short-lived when in 2035, Peter is sent to war and is reported dead. Ember, now pregnant at this stage is heart-broken and finds herself running to the arms of her new lover Louis, whom she eventually marries (considering herself a widow). Tragedy strikes after the war however in 2042, when it is revealed that Peter is not dead at all (it is later revealed he regenerated after being shot), and that in fact he spent five years in an induced coma in a military where his memories are wiped and he returns a callous and unfeeling soldier. But when Erik, in frustration at his surrogate daughter’s anguish, manages to return Peter’s memories to him, he returns everything, including his memories of being a Time Lord from Gallifrey. After an adulterous affair with Ember which almost costs him his life at the hands of Louis, Peter leaves Nouveau-Paris only to return two years later to discover that the presence of one of his own kind, The Doctor, may be the key to discovering who he really is.
Character Personality
As a person Peter is quite the joker, always ready with a quick quip and clever wit. He is quite a talented cellist and made his way to the front of the orchestra without much difficulty after Erik hired him there in the beginning of 2014. He is a kind hearted person, who is full of love waiting to be given though he can be somewhat naive at the best of times, which makes him quite the match for Ember who is completely the opposite. As a Time Lord however, he is slightly daft but extremely brave and willing to give his life for the greater good.
