Brief History
Meg was born in 1846 to Antoinette Déféyer and Henri Giry. As an only child she was coddled from birth and grew up to be rather spoilt. She is used to a life of indulgence and did not adapt well to the idea of having nothing after the death of her father in 1855. While living in the ballet dormitories of the Opera Populaire, she continue to act like the spoilt little princess, running about and making her presence known. However, age and life experience taught Meg to be a more patient and excepting person, and she showed a greater tolerance than her mother; when she accepts Ember Réyer (the illegitimate child of Jerome Réyer and her mother) as her littler sister.
Meg found her way back into aristocracy when she was married to Baron Théodric de Castelot-Barberac in 1870 becoming Baronness of his estate. By 1899, she has given birth to three children and is very content with her life – despite her mother’s decision to continue the working class lifestyle.
Character Personality
Spoilt, bland and outspoken Meg is often regarded as more of a burden than anything else especially to the like of the reclusive Erik, whom she is always screaming rumours about, for it was she who started the rumour of the ‘Opera Ghost’ in the first place. She is rather brash and not afraid to voice her opinions even when they are not wanted. Not to mention she could give Erik a run for his money when it comes to her temper tantrums. However, as she grows older and is allowed to experience some of the trials and tribulations of life, she mellows out and becomes more mature.
