Brief History

Born in 1855 to Antoinette Giry and Jerome Réyer, Ember was the result of a one-night stand between the two. One too many glasses of gin, they found resulted, in not only one hell of a hangover—but an unwanted child. Mortified by her own weakness and the disloyalty to her dead husband, Antoinette shuns the baby from the moment of her birth leaving her in the hands of her heartbroken father Jerome. Yet his love for Ember is able to overcome that pain of rejection and he vows to dedicate his life to the infant.

She grows up in the opera house having almost daily run-ins with the residing opera ghost, Erik (whom unbeknownst to her has more to do with her existence than she may ever realise) and is resented by almost every occupant in the building, bar the aforementioned and a handful of others. Despite this rejection however, Ember is a free and wilful spirit who thrives on the essence of the theatre and it’s music which plays such a big part in her life.

But when darkness begins to descend on the young girl in the form of her ever distant, unnamed mother – she must learn to survive in a world that has no place for outcasts. The question remains; will she stand or will she fall by the wayside?

Character Personality

Ember is a free-reigned spirit who is not partial to confinement or even being told what to do by those she deems unworthy of her respect. At first glance, she may come across as a timid daydreamer but should she be tried, it can not be guaranteed that she will be so lenient. Despite this tough outer shell, Ember is a loving and gentle soul who thrives on music and the friendship of those close to her. She has a delicate heart that once wounded can take many years to mend.
