Brief History

Born in 1856 in Versailles, Ember was the result of a one-night fling between two of the more respected figures of the Opera Populaire; Madame Giry, and Monsieur Reyer. As a result of one too many drinks they found resulted in not only one hell of a hangover—but an unwanted child. Ember was passed off as a miscarriage after she was born on Madame Giry’s part, and an adopted infant on Monsieur Reyer’s.

She grew up in the opera house, having almost daily run-ins with the residing opera ghost and was resented by almost every occupant in the building. Save for a few; her father and the aforementioned opera ghost included, she had no friends in the theatre. Jerome Reyer died when Ember was only fifteen years old, only after which her mother began to show an interest in her welfare, her eldest daughter Marguerite having now having been married off to a wealthy count. When this failed, her mother attempted to force her into a marriage with a reluctant grieving, Vicompte de Chagney. This failed when an intervention from Ember’s guardian and friend; Erik, saw her freed from her imprisonment but it too late to save the poor girl from the scars she had received from the unlawful acts forced upon her. In 1872, just six months after the death of her father, Ember disappeared.

She did not return again to the Opera until 2014, where she discovered a heartbroken immortal Erik among the ruins of the theatre. Despite her past connections to this man, she was a changed woman – much hardened by the ordeals of her life since she left the theatre. Despite this, she somewhat instinctively dedicated herself to the welfare of her surrogate father and remained until his ailments were cured by the resurrection of his dead wife by some new friends. After the return of Christine, Ember felt she was no longer needed but Erik had other ideas. Offering her a position at the theatre in the chorus, and also a place in the Destler family – he won her over and convinced her to stay but not without a few months of perseverance.

Ten years later she was married and pregnant with her first child, when tragedy struck her. Peter, her beloved husband and childhood sweetheart was killed in the war, and she was left alone and a single mother in war stricken Paris. Distraught and terrified she ran out into the streets where she was cornered by a blonde haired vampire called Lestat who tried to eat her and her unborn child, but who was stopped by another vampire named Louis, who took her form Lestat and brought her home and stayed with her until she had her baby. Five months or so later, Louis has helped Ember to get through her depression and the two became quite close, eventually falling in love. Their relationship has not always been easy, and there has been much turbulence but despite this, they remain strong and faithful to each other as ever they were.

Character Personality

Upon first look, Ember can seem quite a hard to determine person when it comes to her personality. With a heart of gold and a temper to match, she is one whose moods can change as quick as the wind, and you can believe you don’t want to be on the wrong end of that storm! Despite her temper however, Ember has a pure heart and is known for her thoughtful and caring nature and is there to offer helpful advice to those who need it [especially her unfortunate adopted father who gets himself into as many pickles as she does ruts!].
