Brief History

Tobias Archibald Destler was born on the 15th June 1775 to Manus Destler and Laura Beauvilliers. He is the first born son of two, having only one younger brother, Evald. Being born to nobility Tobias had a somewhat pleasant childhood, but one which was not based upon the wealth of his family but the values and morals of his good natured mother, and an appreciation of the beautiful things in life. Because of this careful upbringing, Tobias grew into the gentle and kind man that he is who, despite his immense wealth, is a man of the community. He is the chief organist for the local cathedral in Turku, and never misses the Sunday service where he is well renowned and loved for his music. He is also known for his charitable work towards though who are in need. After the death of his parents in 1795 Tobias found himself forced to step into his father’s shoes overnight; taking on the responsibility of Lord of Turku, Master of Westcraven and sole benefactor to his younger brother. Having just graduated from the University of Lund as a Professor of Science the young man found himself in a compromising position. Constantly haunted by the loss of his mother and father, Tobias became something of an introvert, a shift in personality which caused people to think him pompous and pensive. This was to change however when while attending a ball at his aunt’s home in Pori, he was placed with the task of finding the daughter of a middle aged couple, who had run off into the woods after a disagreement with Fridtjof Borjeson. This lady turned out to be Lillian Perrault, Tobias’ future wife and love of his life.

Character Personality

Tobias is quite a introverted man whose gentle demeanour and shyness can make him vulnerable to his enemies. Being one who values intelligence over physical strength he is not in any way a fighter but will nonetheless stand up and fight for what he believes in even if it seems that all odds are mounted against him. He is a gentle hearted soul with a deep affection for all things beautiful, such as music, nature and the arts. Tobias’ only weakness lies in the fact that he cares so deeply for people’s feelings that he sometimes finds it difficult to say ‘no’ which can sometimes result in him becoming a bit of a doormat.
